Nigel Farage busy slurring away

Astoundingly, this is a UKIP press release sent out yesterday. They are actually proud of being in the gutter, proud of slurring someone just for them having been active in CND…:

Nigel (sic.) reprimanded in European Parliament over Ashton speech

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage was this morning reprimanded by European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek for his questions relating to the appointment of Baroness Ashton as the EU’s High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs.

Buzek insisted that Mr Farage ‘restrain his language and refrain from making unacceptable comments in the chamber’.
Mr Farage was questioning whether Ashton was a suitable candidate for the post because of her past associations with the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), given that she will be in charge of the external security of the European Union. He had asked specifically whether Baroness Ashton had accepted cash on behalf of CND from the ‘enemies of western capitalism and democracy’.

  1. Seán Kelly’s (IE, EPP) comment is apt: ‘I think some of the comments made today unfortunately by Mr Farage were over the top, but at this stage I am becoming aware of the fact that Mr Farage is like a long-playing record. He keeps repeating the same political agenda, harking back to the days of Rule, Britannia! and nation fighting nation. Those days are over.’

I think ‘United Kingdom Imperialist Party’ is also an accurate name for Ukip.

  2. Guys – I nearly choked om my Cornflakes whist watching Andrew Marr interviewing Caroline Lucas, the leader of Greens on BBC 1 this morning…

…when Marr quite correctly stated the planet has got colder now for over a decade, including the latest data (luckily the stats hadn’t been destroyed by the CRU) Lucas stated that she agreed the planet had got colder – obviously she said the overall trend was upwards but hey ho.

So I’d like to propose Caroline Lucas for the Hero of the week award and (in her case at least) I will no longer call her a Global Cooling Denier because she isn’t.

Well done Caroline Lucas, at last an honest member of the Green Party.

    Take note Rupert.

  3. Anonymous: hello again, whoever you are, brave person…
Your comment is the usual denier-nonsense. If you knew anything at all about climate science, you would understand that temporary slight coolings are a perfectly normal and common part of long-term warmings-up.
It is still scientific fact that five of the last ten years are among the hottest ten years ever.
It is just that 1998 was THE hottest yet.
    Please try harder.
